Hull and Keel

The hull of Eilean is a composite construction, with Burma teak planking and a frame of galvanised iron which was constructed using the technique of hot riveting, widely used in the 1930s.

In the course of the restoration, it was possible to recover most of the original planking, four centimetres thick. The dragons of Fife, the yard’s symbol, appear on the sides of the hull at the bow and the stern while the yacht’s name is carved on the transom.
