In the last week we have been protecting Eilean from the elements with working covers and ‘cap-wrap’(the protective white plastic on the exposed varnish). When the sun comes out we strip the covers off, let Eilean breathe and bathe in the sun and where possible slap a coat of varnish on!
Meanwhile down below we have taken out 6 tanks; 2 fuel tanks, 2 water tanks, a black tank and a grey tank. This has given us access to the bilge area which allows us to carry out a thorough inspection of the keel bolts, wing bolts and frames, not to mention the various pumps and installations that are prominent. Stefano(Chefano) has now left us for his winter ‘vocation’ in the Caribbean and we are down to two. Engineer Stefano and I have one more tank to pull, the day-fuel tank, and then it is time for the inspection, cleaning, painting and re-installing.
Never a dull moment on the good ship Eilean!
